A man has been charged after allegedly crashing a stolen electric bike into a boom gate while trying to flee from police in Cannington.
Police said they tried to stop the 34-year-old about 2:10am on Wednesday, June 4, as he rode along Albany Highway.
He allegedly ignored officers and kept riding until he crashed into a shopping centre boom gate, damaging it.
The man fell off the bike and was arrested at the scene.
Officers said they found a four-inch folding knife and a quantity of methylamphetamine in his possession.
Police alleged the electric bicycle had also been stolen.
The Langford man has been charged with unlawful damage, possession of stolen property, carrying an edged weapon, having ready access to both weapons and drugs, and possession of a prohibited drug.
He is due to face the Perth Magistrates on July 4.
