Brock Larance and Zach Ferris celebrate as the Dragons' first grade cruised to a dominant victory.

The Willetton Dragons delivered a commanding performance on day two of their fixtures against South Perth last weekend, winning three of their four matches.

In the first-grade match at Hola Park (Burrendah Park), the Dragons started where they left off last week, quickly dismantling their opponents’ batting line-up.

South Perth resumed batting at a precariously at 2/3, thanks to Willetton’s Matt Hanna in exceptional form from last week.

Willetton’s bowling attack was too much for South Perth, being dismantled for just 62 runs.

Zach Ferris then stole the spotlight, claiming 4/16 off ten overs, including five maiden overs, while Hanna finished his tally with 3/10, also off ten overs with five maidens.

Stewart Hepburn and Luke Holt contributed to the dominant bowling effort, taking the other three wickets to seal the innings as South Perth folded for just 62 runs in 34.4 overs.

Fraser Hay’s gritty 17 off 69 balls was South Perth’s top scorer.
Willetton’s openers, Brock Larance and captain Iszak Milentis, made light work of the 25-run target, reaching it without loss to seal an emphatic 10-wicket victory for the Dragons.

In the second-grade at Richardson Park, Willetton’s imposing 279 runs from last week proved too steep for South Perth, who were bowled out for 167. Vice-captain Jaganjot Singh shone with the ball, claiming four wickets, while Declan Crowder’s 3/18 was instrumental.

South Perth captain Brandon Guest’s valiant 80 was in vain, as the Dragons secured a resounding 112-run win.

Back at Hola Park, the Dragons’ third-grade team took home a 95-run victory. Willetton’s solid 228-run total from the previous week left South Perth struggling.

Captain Stuart Smith’s 3/11 and Micah Akkinapalli’s 2/16 led the charge, and Charlie Gough, who scored a brilliant 104 runs last week, also contributed with a wicket to cap off a standout performance.

In the fourth-grade, despite wicketkeeper Charlie Henderson’s brave 63 runs, Willetton fell short. Chasing South Perth’s 283, the Dragons were all out for 231, losing by 52 runs in a spirited effort.

After six rounds, both the first and second-grade teams sit in second place on their ladders, trailing Perth. Meanwhile, the third-grade Dragons sit in third place, and the fourth-grade is in fifth.

Willetton will face Perth Cricket Club this Saturday, with first and third-grades returning to Hola Park and second and fourth-grades playing away at Fletcher Park in Carlisle.
