Kelmscott’s John Dunn Sporting Reserve could be home to the City of Armadale’s first fenced dog park sooner than thought following a $40,000 election funding promise from Member for Armadale Tony Buti.

Dr Buti said the funding would go toward fencing or equipment for the park.

“I just think for our community there are a lot of places where it’s difficult to walk a dog,” he said.

“It’s somewhere where you can come and meet other owners and dogs.

“A lot of locals have been asking for this for a long time so I think it’s a great initiative.”

City of Armadale mayor Henry Zelones welcomed the funding announcement.

“We were planning one anyway but geez, if we can get a leg up with a bit of fencing or whatever it will happen sooner rather than later,” he said.
