The SJ Food Farm and Alliance took out this year’s Active Citizenship Award for their work in raising awareness of issues like food security.

It’s time to recognise the SJ residents that have gone above and beyond in their service to our community, with nominations for the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s Community Citizen of the Year Awards now open.

These awards shine the spotlight on local volunteers and active residents who have inspired and connected the community.

Nominations are now open for the following categories:

  • Clem Kentish Community Service Award: A person who has demonstrated more than 20 years of service to the Serpentine Jarrahdale community
  • Citizen of the Year: A person you believe has delivered outstanding service to his or her community.
  • Citizen of the Year – Senior: An older person you believe has delivered outstanding service to his or her community. To be eligible, the person must be over 65 years of age on January 26.
  • Citizen of the Year – Youth: A young person you believe has delivered outstanding service to his or her community. To be eligible, the person must be under 25 years of age on January 26.
  • Award for Active Citizenship: A group doing outstanding work or for an event staged in the community during the past year.

Nominations close Tuesday, October 31.

All awards will be presented by the shire at its Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony on 26 January 2024.
