The City of Gosnells will carry out further checks at a Canning Vale intersection after a burst water main caused a sinkhole that trapped a car.
The incident happened near the corner of Gateway Boulevard and The Bridgeway early on Tuesday, September 8, with the road closed while Water Corporation carried out emergency repairs.
No injuries were reported.
City of Gosnells chief executive Ian Cowie said the burst pipe was managed by Water Corporation, which was responsible for handling the incident and repairing damage to the City’s road.
Once those works are complete, the City will inspect the area for any further problems.
“The City will assess the area following the completion of repair works by the Water Corporation, including a Ground Penetrating Radar scan of the area to check there are no underlying issues present,” Mr Cowie said.
The City will also check nearby infrastructure for any other damage.
Mr Cowie said the City was not aware of any previous problems involving the road surface, subsidence or water infrastructure at the location.
Water Corporation earlier said crews arrived within 30 minutes of the incident and isolated the burst main.
Water supply was affected to about 10 nearby homes while repairs were underway.
