Armadale and Byford will soon have a new Driver and Vehicle Services Centre.

The available services included are learner’s permit and photocard applications, theory and hazard perception tests, practical driving assessments, interstate and overseas driver’s license transfers, custom license plates, and vehicle and boat registrations and transfers.

Four million has been allocated in the 2025/26 State budget after the Cook Labor government promised more driver services during the recent state election.

Minister assisting the transport minister Jessica Stojkovski said the new centre will help meet the demand for Department of Transport (DoT) services in Perth’s south-east.

“The Department of Transport has recently experienced rapid growth in demand for its services, particularly in the thriving south-east metro region, which is putting pressure on existing DVS centres and increasing wait times for customers,” she said.

“The Cook Government’s election commitment of a new licensing centre in the Armadale/Byford area will provide better access to DoT services, much closer to home for those residents currently driving 30 to 40 minutes to attend another centre such as Cannington or Success.

“DoT will consult with the community and key stakeholders to determine the location that best serves the needs of customers in the south-eastern suburbs.”

Community and stakeholder consultation will be held to determine a suitable location for the service centre where majority of residents in the Armadale, Serpentine Jarrahdale and Gosnells areas can utilise the facility.

The budget allocation for the new centre was expected to cover costs of consultation, planning, design and building.

The complete State budget allocations are to be handed down today.
