The annual Armadale Young Writers’ Awards has opened for school students who reside in or attend school in the City of Armadale. Applicants must be aged between year three and year 12 and submit a piece of their own work digitally. All submissions should follow the format of a short fiction story and be no more than 2000 words. Each applicant should submit their writing in Times New Roman size 12 font as a Microsoft Word document.
There are five categories for submissions, including years three and four, years five and six, years seven and eight, years nine and 10 and years 11 and 12. Each category will have a prize for first, second and third place, with an overall competition winner receiving a bonus of a $50 gift card in addition to their prize money. Each first-place winner will receive $200, followed by $150 for second place and $100 for third place.
One entry is allowed per individual person by June 30 with no late entries accepted.
