Mayor Terresa Lynes had a lively conversation with students from East Maddington Primary and Brookman Primary during a visit on Tuesday, where she spoke about the role of local government and what it means to be Mayor.

The students impressed the Mayor with their knowledge and enthusiasm, eagerly offering ideas on how the City could better serve young people.

Their wish list included more parks near homes, inclusive schools, bigger skate parks, additional swimming pools, trampolines, basketball courts, and even a theme park featuring “Tropic Like It’s Hot” waterslides. They also suggested unique museums and more festivals to bring the community together.

Mayor Lynes said while some ideas would require help from the State and Federal governments, she was excited by their creativity.

The students were pleased to learn the City’s new Youth Entertainment Space will officially open on Wednesday at 5:30pm. The public event is open to everyone.
