Here’s what makes Trish such a special and committed mother
The Examiner recently put a call out to any locals who wanted to celebrate their mum, or motherly figure in their life, in our Mother’s Day edition.
Roleystone local Stephanie Le Lievre responded with this lovely tribute.
“I’d love to share a little story about my beautiful mum, Trish Hatton – grandma to my two girls, aged 2.5 and 5.5.
My mum looks after our youngest daughter three days a week while my husband and I go to work (I’m a local school principal and he’s a part-time deputy principal).
She did the same for our eldest before she started full-time school.
We honestly couldn’t do what we do without her support.
What makes Mum so special is how deeply committed she is to our girls – not just caring for them, but really making every day meaningful.
She fills their days with fun, low-cost adventures, often through programs and events run by the City of Armadale and City of Gosnells. From craft mornings to park visits, she creates the kind of memories I know they’ll carry forever.
Mum was the breadwinner when I was growing up and didn’t have the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mum.
She often says: “I’m getting to do something I didn’t have the chance to do as a mother”.
It means the world to all of us.”
The world’s best mum
Tanya Blackwell came back to us with this message for two very important women in her life.
“Shout out to the world’s best mum, Kylie Delaney.
“I’m so grateful you’re mine.
“There’s nothing you wouldn’t do, not only for me, but also your grandchildren. We love you so much.
“I’d also like to shout out my nana, Isabel Delaney, who has also always played a big role in my life. I love you.”
The Examiner would like to celebrate City of Armadale local, Annette, who always strives to be the best mum she can be.
Annette has her hands full but she always gives her all
As a single mum of two, I’m always super busy, juggling work, study, and volunteering at my kids’ school.
My children have unique needs – one manages social and emotional anxiety alongside asthma, while the other lives with ADHD and an auto immune disorder.
I’m a dedicated member of the P&C and school board, always ready to lend a hand with events, fundraisers, and school canteen duties.
I’m their rock, their cheerleader, their taxi driver, their nurse – and so much more.
But I’m also there for their friends when they’re feeling sad or need someone to talk to when their parents aren’t around.
Two days a week, I arrive at school early to support extracurricular activities, cheering on my kids as they explore new passions. And on some Friday mornings, you can find me there again at 8am for the school’s run club.
Then there’s the appointments – doctor’s visits, therapy sessions, and more.
But I love every bit of it. Yes, it’s challenging and hard work at times, but my kids are the reason I find the strength to keep going. They’re my motivation, my inspiration, and my everything.
I’m not perfect, and neither are my kids, but we never give up and always do our best.
Whether it’s sports training, events, games, or early morning runs, I’m always there, filled with joy and pride.
I do it all for my kids and our community, pouring my heart into every activity, because seeing them thrive and knowing I’m making a difference in my community makes every effort worthwhile.
