In a weekend of variable weather, Perth recorded its lowest maximum in four years as well as its rainiest day of the month.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology in some areas of Perth the maximum temperature on May 20 was only 15.3 degrees Celsius.

This means it was Perth’s lowest maximum in May since 2013.

Gosnells recorded Perth’s heaviest rainfall overnight on Saturday – nearly twice as much as the maximum in one day so far this month in the area.

At Perth Airport on Saturday the mercury reached a slightly warmer 17 degrees Celsius – but that was still the lowest daily maximum in the area in May according to WeatherZone.com.au.

A nearly one-and-a-half centimetre of rain was recorded there on Sunday, which was also nearly twice as much as recorded on any day this month.
