The City of Armadale recently handed over a cheque for $1300 to the Amanda Young Foundation from monies raised at the Perth Kilt Run and Highland Gathering.

Foundation founder Barry Young said the money would go towards starting their 2016 drive to raise awareness about meningococcal disease.

“Most of our efforts are put into awareness and education, particularly in February with all the universities going back and having orientation days as we have stalls at them,” he said.

“Eighteen to 24-year-olds are a target group of ours and once school gets underway we will have our health promotion officers available.”

The foundation is seeking more donations and volunteers throughout 2016.
