Member for Riverton Mike Nahan presented more than $60,000 worth of Healthway sponsorships for community events last week.

The City of Canning was awarded a $50,000 Healthway sponsorship for its 2017 season of events.

Dr Nahan presented Canning mayor Paul Ng and chief executive Arthur Kyron with a funding certificate on behalf of Healthway, and said it was great to see Canning promoting a positive mental health message ‘act belong commit’ in their local community.

“I look forward to attending many of the events, including the mid week eats, which start this week and will be held here at Riverton Reserve every Thursday evening over the next five weeks, beginning with food from my native America,” he said.

He also presented members of the Rotary Club of Willetton with a $12,000 Healthway sponsorship for its annual Willetton Rotary community fair.

Dr Nahan said the fair was a magnificent community event held every year on Burrendah Reserve that brought local residents together.

“These types of events are very important, as they help build and strengthen a sense of community, which is more difficult these days as we all tend to have very busy lives,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to be able to provide this sponsorship to the Rotary Club of Willetton on behalf of Healthway, which will help make the fair bigger and better than ever.”

The fair will be held on April 2, 2017 from 10am to 4pm at the Burrendah Reserve, corner of Pinetree Gully Road and Burrendah Boulevard, Willetton.

Community groups interested in a stall at the fair can show their interest by sending an email to faircontroller@gmail.com.
