Children from around the region will once again play an important part in the Baroque by Candelight concert.

Children from across the Armadale area will recount experiences of living in Baroque Times when the Perth Chamber Orchestra returns this Saturday May 12 to St Matthew’s Church.

Part of the Armadale Arts Festival, Baroque by Candlelight will see students from Armadale, Byford, Maddington, Kelmscott and Munster- as well as members of the Classic Sounds Orchestra – narrating and performing classical Baroque tunes in a fully immersive environment.

Following sell-out performances in 2016 and 2017, the organisers have expanded the net to include even more willing participants from local schools.

Intended to offer a unique musical, spiritual and historical experience, the concert will be lead by famed Australian conductor Jessica Gethin, virtuoso violinist Paul Wright and soprano Prudence Sanders, with solos from Kathy Potter (viola) and Jenny Coleman (trumpet).

“The audience will be in for a special treat as the children take to the stage to re-enact and recount what it was like to be living in those times,” series founder Bourby Webster said.
