Some of Perth’s best-known former Australian Rules Football players have visited Armadale to mentor young people in the City of Armadale on life skills.

As part of the Indigenous Services Australia’s community-based program Together We Can, former West Coast Eagles star Daniel Kerr visited Armadale to work with children on how to get the best out of themselves.

Held at the City of Armadale’s Champion Centre in Seville Grove the visit was designed to promote social and emotional well-being and aimed to improve physical and mental health, increase social inclusion and cognitive skills, and prevent crime.

Armadale mayor Henry Zelones said the program was a great way to increase two-way listening, understanding and build relationships.

“By providing strong role models, commitment and attention to these kids the program is achieving really positive results with youth and their families,” he said.

“Through improved attitudes they can learn from experiences and gain valuable lessons to help guide a positive future for the whole community.”
